Lynn Miller, a member of First Presbyterian Church, St. Cloud, MN, recently wrote about Synod School in the Synod of Lakes and Prairies. She and her daughter, Amanda, have been consistent attendees of Synod School for the past four years. Writing in the April edition of “The Valley Bridge,” the newsletter of the Presbytery of Minnesota Valleys, Miller noted, “Intellectual family church camp – that was how a friend described Synod School to me the first year that my daughter and I ventured to Storm Lake, IA, to find out what Synod School was all about.

The Presbytery of North Central Iowa has submitted an overture to the 219th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) that calls on the General Assembly Mission Council to “re-establish an Office of Collegiate Ministries … as a vital and integral part of the ministry and mission of the church … ”

The topic of sex may be popular among students on college campuses, but it isn’t necessarily a topic found in collegiate ministry settings. However, the Rev. Heather Godsey believes the topics of sex, sexuality, and spirituality need to be a part of collegiate ministry.
