Some say “the heart of a church is mission or mission work” and I have always believed that to be true. The youth of St. Luke Presbyterian, Amarillo, now know it to be true. Having just completed their annual mission trip, they will start raising money on Sept. 12 for next year's journey that sees 90% participation.

I was reminded of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance motto, “OUT OF CHAOS, HOPE,” as we toured the oil-damaged coastlands of South Louisiana for two days with other representatives from presbytery, synod and the General Assembly.
